Iridium Flares

I managed to capture a couple of Iridium flares on video Friday and Saturday night. The first was taken with a Treo 650 at the Hirsch Observatory in Troy, NY. The second was taken with my Minolta Dimage Z1 at Lake George. Both occurred around 8PM. Enjoy! Note: The first video is in the 3G2 format which you should be able to view with the latest version of QuickTime.

My son and I went to the park tonight and launched a model rocket. We built this rocket some time ago and have launched it every once in a while but never at night. It's a small rocket that takes A10 engines but it's still a blast to launch. Watch the video to see what happened!

Why I'm Double-Minded

Normally I would not put much text here, since this is the first time I'm submitting a post to the Christian Carnival and most readers are used to, well, reading I'm offering this transcript. This is not a word-for-word transcript, but the notes I used when creating the post. I'll begin by reading the passag of scripture which the title alludes to, James 1:2-8 {read verses} One thing I'd like to point out is that most people don't realize the being double-minded is not some huge, evil sin that it's made out to be. We're ALL double-minded. James clearly explains his point when he says, "let him ask in faith, with no doubting". You see, when we pray to God and we think He might not hear us or He might not answer us, we're being double-minded. This is the struggle in all of us. Jesus encouraged us to have the faith of a child. CHildren are bot afraid to ask for something, anything from people. They just think that they'll get whatever they ask for. it's not the same when we ask God for things. After salvation, we lose that child-like faith we once had. We get caught up in this quagmire between what God says and what our brain is trying to tell us. This is what makes us double-minded and this is what I struggle with every day. Will God hear me? Will He answer me? Do I have the faith to ask for "X" from God? All of these thoughts and more parade through my mind. So that's why I chose the title. As I told a friend the other day when he asked me if I was unstabel in all of my ways, I responded, "that's why I have to hold on to Jesus in this journey we call life". If I'm going to be unstable, I'm at least going to look for something to steady me: Jesus, the Rock. And I like the smell of what He's cookin'. (yeah, I know, bad joke -ed.)
